Defying Gravity - Caroline Bowman 4/8/15
That time off did her good. I think this is the healthiest i have ever heard Caroline sing. It’s not shouting all the way through, she finally found the healthy belt that she’s supposed to have as Elphaba.
Can we take a moment to appreciate this because DAMN

Defying Gravity - Wicked - Opening Night (October 30th 2003)
Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenowith
Lindsay Mendez, Alli Mauzey, Betsy Werbel (u/s) (matinee, Feb. 2nd 2014)Can we take a moment to appreciate this EXCELLENT version of TWAI? That final riff is absolutely AMAZING (and very rare, I think). It also has her (kind-of) signature low-Wizard-voice “Elphaba”, which simply makes me happy. Wow, Mendez. You are truly one of kind. (x)
This song was originally in Wicked, but was ultimately replaced by The Wizard and I. I adore them both, but this one seems to make Elphaba’s story even more fabulously tragic, does it not? She had hopes and dreams of becoming even GREATER than the Wizard now that she was finally out from under her father’s thumb. ALL SQUANDERED. Gorgeous.

posted because of INSANE and NEVER HEARD BEFORE riff on the finale note
Official instrumental version of Defying Gravity I only just found out about after years of only hearing bad karaoke versions. (not Disney but still beautiful music)
3:02 still gives me chills.
This is just awesome, for any of you wondering, it is the song the orchestra play at the end of the show.
